Curriculum Guide

Our liberal arts and science ethos encourages cross-curricular learning, Socratic dialogue and lifelong self-education. We believe that the principal barrier to teenage learning is boredom. We overcome this obstacle by promoting education as an ongoing conversation between student and teacher. Toronto New School delivers a broadly based curriculum which teaches students how to think, not what to think. Our teachers encourage students to take creative risks and make connections rather than simply memorizing content, and it is this approach which determines the form of all our courses. The TNS program includes several features designed to help students make appropriate educational choices and career plans. The Administration and individual course teachers will help students to determine their interests, needs, and special strengths, and to explore the broad range of learning opportunities that the school provides.

For a complete description of the academic program offered at TNS you can download a copy of the 2011-2012 Curriculum Guide using the link below.
